Based on a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by Aklan District Engineering Office, the completed P29.4 million project involves paving of a 6-lane kilometer roadway with 1.5-meter concrete shoulder of Aklan West Road in Barangay Mantiguib, Makato, Aklan.
Meanwhile, an on-going off-carriageway project traversing Barangays Laguinbanwa and Agbago in Ibajay amounting P79.5 million involves paving of a 12.31-kilometer road with 1.5-meter wide concrete shoulders.
DPWH Region VI Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the two (2) road improvement projects were undertaken in response to the growing need for improved travel conditions in the province.
With Makato considered as the main producer of copra in the province and Ibajay boasting various tourist attractions, the road improvements will benefit both Aklanons and visitors as it enhances the transport system along the national road.
