DPWH-DOT Develops Agri-tourism Road in Talisay, Negros Occidental

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the final phase of the reconstruction of an access road to support the agri-tourism industry in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Implemented by DPWH Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office under the Convergence and Special Support Program with the Department of Tourism (DOT), the P34 million project covers the reconstruction of a 1.17-kilometer, 2-lane concrete road with provision of necessary safety and warning signs and markings.

DPWH Region VI Director Nerie D. Bueno said in her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan that the reconstruction project was undertaken to complete the 13.02-kilometer road stretch which is part of a 2018-2022 multi-year program amounting to a total of P295 million.

With the improvement of the whole stretch of the access road, both tourists and locals will have a smoother, faster, and safer transportation access going to various tourist destinations in Talisay City and Bacolod City such as the famous Campuestohan Highland Resort, Bantug Lake Ranch, and USLS Eco Park.

Other than tourism development, the improved road is also beneficial to Talisay City’s thriving agricultural industry as it provides farmers a faster and more conducive access in transporting sugarcane and other agricultural products.
