DPWH Completes P49-m River Wall Project in Bagac, Bataan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the construction of a flood mitigation structure that now protects communities and farmlands along the Paysawan River in Barangay Paysawan, Bagac, Bataan.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, said that the DPWH Bataan Second District Engineering Office (DEO) built along the Bagac side of the Paysawan River a slope protection structure in the amount of P49 million funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The completed river wall, which is made of rubble concrete with stone masonry foundation, has a length of 876.50 linear meters and a height of three (3) meters.

With the new flood control structure, nearby residential areas are now protected against inundation often caused by the overflowing of the Paysawan River and other threats posed by extreme weather conditions.

Local farmers will likewise benefit from the construction of the new river wall that is expected to shield rice fields and crop areas from flooding during heavy rains.
