The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a flood mitigation structure along Cansaga River in Barangay Danglag, Consolacion, Cebu to protect residents and their properties against major flooding during heavy rains.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region VII Director Ernesto S. Gregorio Jr. said that the flood control structure is intended to prevent the possible shifting of river ways and loss of land mass along the area.
“The completion of this project is long-awaited by the people of Barangay Danglag. The residents had long suffered the perennial problem of flooding,” added Director Gregorio.
The flood control structure for the protection from rapid water flow has a length of 1,725.15 lineal meters.
The project was implemented by the DPWH Cebu 6th District Engineering Office at a total cost of ₱96 million.
