DICT Zamboanga City Breaks Ground For First Digital Transformation Center For Special Needs Sector In The Country

The construction of the Digital Transformation Center for Persons with Disabilities, Women, and Senior Citizens located at the Department of Information and Communications Technology – IX+BASULTA Talon-Talon Office, Zamboanga City has commenced Saturday August 20, 2022. Department of Public Works and Highways – IX provided the fund and expertise in the construction of the said building.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, newly appointed Asec. Maria Teresa Camba who currently still serves as the Regional Director for DICT IX, revealed that the DTC building will serve as an Innovation Hub for startups, Co-working space for freelancers, and a Training center specializing on basic to advance ICT skills. “Our priority for this Center is to serve the women, Senior Citizens, and persons with disabilities in Zamboanga City, to empower them to access a plethora of opportunities found on the internet,” Asec. Camba shared.

The groundbreaking ceremony was personally led by DICT Sec. Ivan John E. Uy together with Usec. Paul Joseph Mercado, DICT Undersecretary for Special Concerns. Also present in the ceremony were DICT Regional Directors all over the Philippines, DICT IX+BASULTA’s Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Aris B. Austria and Technical Operations Division Chief Mr. Jacob Mohammad. Women, Senior Citizen, and PWD sector leaders were also present to witness the groundbreaking.
