DICT CLICkConEx Promotes Luzon Islands as Next IT-BPM Hubs

The annual Convergence of Luzon ICT Champions, Conferences, and Exhibitions (CLICkConEx) highlighted the potential of Balanga City and Luzon’s islands for ICT-enabled jobs, opportunities and investments. Co-organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), through the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB), and in partnership with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), this year’s CLICkConEx was conducted on 28 October 2022, in Balanga City.

“The Philippines has proven to be a strong contender in the global market of service providers. The fast-developing ICT industry creates new and exciting possibilities, as well as new products, and services— pushing breakthrough ideas not only in business, but also in agriculture, health, education, and finance. The DICT aims to be at the forefront of driving ICT development and supporting such industries,” DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said.

CLICkConEx convened the country’s top experts, associations, government agencies, along with a select group of global speakers, to discuss the current and future state of blockchain and IT-BPM industries in the Philippines. It is also expected to open doors for business networking and collaboration among stakeholders.

DICT Undersecretary Jocelle Batapa-Sigue also discussed how Balanga City and other cities from the countryside can take advantage of the rapidly growing digital economy. She presented ideas, strategies, and plans for the countryside including the many initiatives that the government has mapped out for digitalizing the countryside.

“We were able to bring the jobs from Metro Manila down to the countryside. In the next six years of DICT and under the term of our President, we will need to step up as the ICT Council Champions to present our stories built around the theme of digitally empowered,” DICT Undersecretary Batapa-Sigue asserted.
