Asphalt Overlay Improves Travel in Southern Negros Occidental Towns

Traveling to various areas in southern Negros Occidental is now safer and more convenient with the improvement of Binalbagan-Isabela Road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Regional Operations Roberto R. Bernardo, DPWH Region VI Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the project implemented by DPWH Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office involved the asphalt overlay of a 1.1-kilometer portion of the existing two (2)-lane concrete road along the towns of Binalbagan and Isabela.

Director Bueno added that the asphalt overlay enhances the surface ability of the road, allowing for a smoother and faster access to schools, health centers, government centers, and other public and private establishments in the area.

With the improved road traversing agricultural areas, it will likewise facilitate a hastened transport of farm products and reduce hauling costs.

Other provisions on the P11.5 million asphalt overlay project included reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and solar studs to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, especially at night.
