55 NPAs Lay Down Arms

On the 54th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police welcomed with open arms 55 members of the communist terrorist group who returned to the fold of the law, Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr confirmed on Tuesday.

In simple ceremony at National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City, personnel of NCRPO under the leadership of Police Major General Jonnel C Estomo, Regional Director through Regional Intelligence Division (RID) in coordination with Regional Community Affairs Development Division (RCADD), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA)-NCR, and Joint Task Force-NCR successfully facilitated the withdrawal of allegiance of former members of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).

“These series of surrenders of the former communist rebels resulted from the relentless campaign of our police and military forces against terrorism in support of Executive Order No. 70 to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC)”, PGen Azurin said.

PGen Azurin said this policy of the government to reach out with the hand of friendship in a grand gesture of peace mirrors well the community policing mandate of the PNP based on the principle that local problems are best resolved at the community level by all members of the community themselves which include among others, families, barangays, LGU, churches, NGOs, and police.

During the activity, surrenderers laid down the following firearms, ammunitions and other war material such as One (1) S&W 357 magnum revolver with 6 rounds of ammunition; One (1) Colt M16 5.56mm rifle; One (1) 9mm luger with 2 magazines (KG9) and 24 rounds of ammunition; One (1) Shooter Shotgun rifle with 1 magazine; One (1) armscor 12 guage shotgun; One (1) Colt MK IV Pistol 45 cal. with one (1) magazine; One (1) Tokarev 9mm Pistol; cal.45 with one magazine and 6 ammunition; Two (2) armscor 38 revolvers; Six (6) rounds 40mm ammunition; Nineteen (19) pcs m16 magazine with 123 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition; Twenty-three (23) assorted handheld radio; Nine (9) radio charger adapter; Six (6) radio charger base; Nine (9) assorted handheld radio batteries; Six (6) bandolier; One (1) rifle bag; One (1) base radio module; Four (4) assorted keypad cellphone and; Ten (10) IED (PVC Pipe Bomb).

PGen Azurin further said that the PNP will continue to mobilize forces to provide new opportunities to our brothers and sisters who have fallen prey to deceptive communist terrorist groups.

“Sa araw na ito, isang kagalakan na muli nating nakasama ang ating mga kababayan na nagbalik loob sa gobyerno at tuluyan nang tinalukuran ang grupong sumira sa kanilang buhay at pamilya. Aming titiyakin na kayo ay makakapagsimula ng bagong buhay at makakatanggap ng mga benepisyong ibinibigay ng Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP)”, PGen Azurin further added.
